DoverPhila Gives Back to Members & the Community

Following another successful year, DoverPhila Federal Credit Union gave back a $400,000 year-end bonus dividend* to its members on January 1, 2024. This marks the 29th year in a row that the credit union returned significant earnings to its members.

DoverPhila’s financial success was also shared with its members through other fiscal opportunities, such as low-cost auto loans, higher interest rates on certificate accounts, free financial resources, and a vast array of other products and services. DPFCU also gave back $10 dividends to each of its DP’s Kids Club and DP’s Savers Club members – around 1,400 youth.

The credit union is a community-focused, financial cooperative controlled by its members making it possible for it to reward its members with a bonus dividend that is derived from the relationships it has with members, such as members’ earnings on savings accounts, members’ interest paid on loans, and members’ debit card point-of-sale activity.

DoverPhila’s people-helping-people mindset was apparent this year through numerous sponsorships and donations, its 70th anniversary celebration, and its no-cost financial resources.

Sponsorships included Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital’s Run for Home, United Way of Tuscarawas County’s Rock ‘n Run 5k and Brew Fest, East Central Ohio ESC’s Family Reading Festival, Tuscarawas Arts Partnership’s Adelante Arts Camp, and various schools and athletic programs.

*Bonus Dividend is derived from three components: 1. Members’ earnings on savings YTD. 2. Members’ interest paid on loans YTD. 3. Members’ debit card POS activity YTD. All of the bonus dividend is considered taxable and will be included on a 1099-INT. Some exceptions and requirements apply. First Mortgage portfolio loans, as well as installment loans booked as part of a promotion or that have been price-matched for rate, are not eligible. There is no bonus on a Health Savings Account. The member must not be delinquent more than 29 days and must have at least $5.00 on deposit. All bonus dividends were posted to the member’s -99 Share Master account on 1/1/2024. One exception applies, beginning this year: IRA bonus dividends post to the individual IRA sub accounts, unless a sub is closed, and then the bonus from that sub posts to the -99.*
